Hi, I’m Tony Smilevski from Tony Insurance. I started selling Insurance back in 2009, and since then my business has grown through referrals and word of mouth. For the first in my new series of blogs, I thought it would be a good idea to give you a general overview of what we do, and what it is that sets us apart from your average Insurance Broker. I think the best way to do that would be to describe how insurance usually works and then describe how it works with us.
How Insurance Usually Works
Broadly speaking, most people who call a Broker are looking for something specific but don’t know exactly what the policy includes. And why would they? They’re not insurance experts. But they might ask about Income Protection insurance, because they have an income they want to protect, and they know Income Protection insurance is a thing.
The Broker is happy enough with this. Income Protection insurance policies are a thing he sells – in fact, he’s already sold three of them that morning – and he’s ready to do the same thing for this customer. It looks like a win-win situation.
How Insurance Works with Tony
When you call Tony, things happen a little differently. We will take the time to explain the available options and inclusions of policies so that you can make an informed decision. We will also ask what other insurance you may want to buy to see what discounts may be available to you for combining cover.

You’ll probably be struck first by how many categories there are, and how many specific types of cover there are in each one.
